Connecting An Star mPOP Receipt Printer/Cash Drawer Combination

PLEASE NOTE THAT YOU WILL NEED TO INSTALL THE MPOP DRIVERS BEFORE ATTACHING IT TO YOUR COMPUTER. YOU CAN DOWNLOAD THE MPOP DRIVER BY CLICKING HERE.

(once downloaded, open/extract the zip file, then select the folder Setup and double click Setup)
 
  • Once you have installed the drivers for the mPOP, plug the printer into a USB connection on your computer and make sure the PSU is connected. Flick the switch on the side of the device to power it on. You will see a symbol appear in the taskbar to show you it is installing the device into Windows. Wait for this to vanish on its own.
 

 
  • Once the windows drivers have installed, go to Control Panel and select Devices & Printers


 
  • If you have installed everything correctly then the device will appear under the Printers header. If it shows up as 'Unspecified' then right click on the device and select Troubleshooting to try and resolve the issue, or repeat the first few steps again.


 
  • Right click on the Star mPOP printer and select  Printing Preferences.


 
  • In the Printing Preferences windows, select Advanced... 


 
  • Click the option for Paper Size and change this to 54mm x Receipt. Click OK once you have done this. Then click Apply.


 
  •  Right click on Star mPOP again and this time select Printer Properties.


 
  •  When the Properties window has opened, select the Device Settings tab.


 
  •  Change FRICTION to 54mm x Receipt
  • Click the + symbol by Cash Drawer and from the drop down menu by the word Timing select Document Top.
  • Once you have made these changes, click Apply and then OK.

 
  • Close all the open windows and then open Salon Iris.
  • Go to Tools and then select Options (or press Ctrl + O together to open Options)


 
  •  Select the Hardware Setup tab.


 
  • Select Configure Receipt Printer.


 
  • Click the dot for Use standard full-size Windows printer or USB receipt printer and then click Select.


 
  • Select Star POP10 from the list of devices.


 
  •  Click Print Test Receipt and then Print and this should print out a dummy receipt and open the cash drawer. Once done, click OK.
 
IT IS POSSIBLE TO SET UP THE MPOP TO OPEN THE CASH DRAWER BY PRESSING F4. WHILST WE DO NOT RECOMMEND HAVING THIS SET UP (AS IT CAN LEAD TO ISSUES WITH THEFT) THERE IS A WAY TO SET THIS UP.
 
  • Follow all the instructions above.
  •  Under the Hardware Setup tab, select Configure Cash Drawer


 
  • Select My cash drawer is connected to a USB receipt printer and tick the box for Enable legacy support.


 
  • Click Test Open Drawer and the draw should fire open (it will print out a very small amount of paper every time you fire the cash drawer on its own. This is to trigger the pulse for the drawer to actually open and cannot be stopped.
  • You should now be able to push F4 any time whilst on the Appointment Book screen to open the cash drawer.
